"A" Week

This has been a summer of learning and growing for both of my kids.  I have especially noticed some big leaps with my sweet boy in the past few weeks.  He has started to love reading and will sit for a dozen books, one right after the other, whereas he used to become disinterested in page 2 especially if there was not something to feel on the page.  He has also started "counting" and singing the abc's.  Of course, it's his way and I absolutely love it.  Counting sounds like this "deu deu deu deu".  Yes, he says two in French over and over.  It has rhythm and is melodious.

With this great interest in all things "preschoolish"  the preschool teacher in me cannot help herself.  I have set up a preschool table in our breakfast nook, made a bulletin board and a lesson plan.  We started this week studying the letter A.

One of the best things about "home preschool" is that we all get to be in our jammies.  Here we are painting apples.

I drew these pictures for the kids so they could match the pom poms on the correct color.  I also bought these chopsticks at Professor Toy to practice fine motor skills. Please notice the laundry basket full of dishtowels on my table.  This photo was taken on tuesday i believe, I did not fold and put them away until today, that's right friday.

We made apple cider on wednesday. Thank you Danee Miller for the apple peeler corer.  My kids loved this.

Thank you mama for this wonderful juicer.

The cider was so good that I think we were all a little sad when it was all gone.

On Friday to finish off our "A" week the kids made awards for each other.  The award B glittered for Jovie says, "Jovial is a super sharer."  which, I wrote on there for him. But the award that Jovie made was entirely her own idea it says, "Beckham is a spectacular bubble blower."  I love her.

My kids had so much fun.  Our week went by really fast and I enjoyed watching them get excited about everything that we did.
I feel so at home surrounded by glitter glue and paint.  I am so thankful for The Learning Center where I did a few die cuts and laminated some colored apples for us to practice patterns.  That place is awesome!
